Location
CAp d'Agde is located on the Mediterranean
roughly half way between Marseille and the
Spanish border, approximately 550 miles south
of Paris. It can be reached by car, on
Autoroute A9; by high speed rail; or plane,
through Montpellier, about 50 miles away by
taxi, or Beziers, about 15 miles. The city is
divided in to two sections, the textile part,
and the Naturist part. The textile part has its
own harbor and shops. The water park "Aqualand",
and a casino are located in this area. It is
worth the walk from the naturist center, and the
restaurants along the harbor are very good. The
naturist sextion, known at the Naturist Quarter,
is located on the north side of the city on a
length of beach with its own marina and facilities.
The old city of Agde is about 5 miles away, but
very little remanins of the original port,
founded by the Greeks. The cathedral dates from
the 12th century.

How to Get There:
From the United States, the easiest route is
normally via Paris with connecting flights to
Montepellier or Beziers. Other major gateways
are London, Nice, or Barcelona. We highly
recommend stopping over for a few days in a
gateway city to recover from jet lag and do
some sightseeing. There are many options
available to meet your interests, and with
Caribbean Hideaways you may find it is
economical to spend time seeing the sights.

Weather:
June can be quite chilly in the evenings, but
warm to hot in the day. July and August can be
hot. In the day, everyone is nude. Shorts are
common wear in the evening - sweat suits if it
is chilly - since it is right on the ocean;
however, it depends on what you are comfortable
with. Men wore shorts or slacks depending on
the weather, and again a sweater if it was chilly.
Pareos and dressier outfits were "in" for the
women. The weather can change rapidly, so
consider packing a sweater or a light sweat suit.

The Naturist Center:
As you enter the Naturist Quarter, you will be
surprised on its size. It is almost like a
regular European city, with the obvious exception -
nudity. There is a large marina, a gas station,
theater, shops, restaurants, and bars. There are
three major building complexes. The first one is
Port Ambonne, a large circular multi-story
building with shops on the ground floor, apartments
on the upper levels, and a pool in the center.
The second, larger yet, is Heliopolis, a
semicircular structure open toward the sea.
There are shops in the ground level, and several
pools and a recreation area in the center. The
apartments are on the upper 5 levels. Each
apartment has a porch or patio of some type.
The biggest structure is Port Nature that is
a five story concrete complex, Y-shaped, about
eight blocks long. It has two pools, and shops at
the ground level, with apartments above. There
is also a marina with boats for rent. Rooms are
compact by American standards, and are Not air
conditioned. The lack of A/C is not a problem,
since it is usually cool in the evenings. None of
the accommodations come with beach towels, but
have all other linens.

Food:
Many people purchase prepard food from the shops and
make their own meals. There are over 30 restaurants
for pizza, orintal, German, or French food. You can
look at the menus posted outside. The "price fixe"
or inclusive menu is often both tasty and priced
reasonably. The apartments have a kitchenette with
a small refrigerator, and a counter-top cooking
facility. The apartments have everything you need.
Fresh fruits are available daily, and fresh
croissants and bread are available every morning at
the several bakeries. The local "vin ordinaire" wine
was very tasty, and priced reasonably, and for
cheaper than soda. The local Muscadine dessert wine
is highly recommended.

Things to do:
Obviously, the sun and water are both nice.
The mandatory nude beach is free, and you
cann rent beach chairs or mats by the day.
The Mediterranean is a little chilly, but
the long, sandy beach is usually crowded.
You'll find all sorts of concessions along
the beach, such as parasailing and water
skiing, along with ice cream and pasty
vendors. It is nice to walk down the beach -
the size is amazing. There are sevreal
private pools, that charge a nominal fee
for entry. There is the usual tourist type
entertainment around the complex - miniature
golf, tennis, etc. There are also saunas,
massages, and many stores and shops.
There is a post office where you can
buy postage stamps, and make long distance
calls. The pay phones use phone cards which
can be purchased at the Post Office
or taobacco shops.

Nightlife:
The nightlife at Cap d'Adge is on going
and unique. This is adult only style
evenings. There are many bars, and smaller
restaurants. There are several night clubs
with evening shows and small bistros with
entertainment. Most have a cover charge.

Sundries: Electrip power is 220 Volts AC,
50 HZ. You will need either a transformer
and plug adaptor for any American devices,
or an adaptor to plug in any international
type items, such as a hair dryer, that can
run on 220 Volts into French sockets. AMEX
or Visa (also known as BArclaycard) credit
cards are accepted at most establishments.
US Dollar traveler checks can be cashed at
the banks in the complex. The rate varies
daily. All cash transactions are in French
francs or Euro. The Interanational Heral
Tribune and USA Today ar usually available
in bokkshops daily, except Sunday. Suntan
lotion is available, and resonably priced
for the French brands. You can walk almost
anywhere in the complex in about 15 - 20
minutes. Local bargains can be found in
lavender perfumes and soaps, pottery, and
cooking spices.

General Conditions:
There is a mandatory 250 FF cleaning charge
per stay. Dishes and utensils must be washed
by you, trash disposed of, floors swept free
of sand, and linen folded before departure.
Keys are available at 4 PM on arrival and
must be returned by 10 AM on day of departure.

Reservations:
Cap d'Adge is well-known throughout Europe,
and books up early in the year. The complesx
is open year round, but weather limits the
main season from June to September, and many
shops and restaurants are only open in that
timeframe. The high season is the month of
Augurst; however, July is quite comfortable,
and less crowded. Contact Caribbean
Hideaways - - your nude vacation experts
to book your next stay at Cap d'Adge. We
will help with every little detail to
make your stay a pleasant one.
